FAQs

  • An Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) is a university-qualified allied health professional who specialises in supporting people across all ages to improve health, movement, and independence. They use movement and exercise to work with individuals to prevent and manage chronic diseases, injuries, and disabilities.

  • While Exercise Physiologists focus on long-term treatment for chronic conditions (like diabetes, heart disease, and arthritis), physiotherapists often focus on treatment for the musculoskeletal system and more acute injuries.

AEPs are best placed to help you with ongoing rehabilitation; improving strength, and supporting better health management and behavioural change.

  • No referral is needed for private appointments. However, if you're eligible and would like to use services under Medicare, DVA, WorkCover, or the NDIS, you may need a referral from your GP or healthcare provider.

  • Yes. You may be eligible for Medicare rebates under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan.

Many private health insurers also cover Exercise Physiology services under extras coverage. We also support NDIS (plan- and self-managed) participants.

  • Your initial consultation includes a thorough assessment of your medical and health history, movement and functional capacity, as well as personal goals and support needs.

We may complete a range of assessments including physical tests to look at certain muscle strength, static and dynamic balance, movement confidence, or movement abilities.

We’ll work with you to develop a tailored exercise plan that’s safe, achievable, and effective.

It would be best to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes and enclosed footwear suitable for exercise. Have at hand a water bottle and any relevant referrals, reports, or medical information.
